…They begin by allowing the reader to view the perspective of an outsider looking in, before Dr. Frankenstein begins his narrative. There is some light dialogue between Victor and Walton, but the letters mostly detail Walton feelings. He is excited to have found a friend and eager to hear his tale. The letters lend the story a personal feel that will later evoke sympathy both for Victor, his monster, and for Walton at the end.
