In 1918 the Lutherans formed into the United Lutheran Church of America. The American Lutheran Church, formed in 1961, and the Lutheran Church in America, formed in 1962, united in 1988 to become the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. This group comprises of about 5.2 million members. This is about 95% of all Lutherans in America.
