The Minneapolis experiment was conducted to assess the effects of various police responses to domestic violence. The study came to three conclusions. First, police should probably employ arrest in most cases of minor domestic violence. Second, the experiment should be replicated to see whether or not the same findings come out. Finally, mandatory arrest laws should not be adopted. Within a matter of months of the experiment many states adopted mandatory arrest procedures.
