However, Brunetto does not repent his “sin”. He simply asks for Dante to let him live on through his work Tesoro. Dante will surely do this, as he said, “ ’Within my memory is fixed- and now/ moves me- your dear, your kind paternal image/ when, in the world above, .../ you taught me how man makes himself eternal...’” (1347). As Dante and Brunetto were great friends on earth, they both will remember one another for all eternity.
