World War II was a horrific period in time. Men displayed great courage, new ideas and national pride, as well as horrible treatment of people that were involved in the war and much disregard for civilian life. One of the worst single battles in this incredible war was operation “Overload”. Many people died in this tragic battle but knew it was worth it because if the Allies won then it would be the turning point …

…One of the Germans that commanded part of the German coastal defenses was the “desert fox”, Field Marshal Erwin Rommel. On June 6th was his wife’s birthday so he drove back to Germany to spend the day with her. D-Day was a horrible day in history and hopefully will never have to be repeated again. The men that gave their lives so courageously for their families and countries do not even have a marmoreal.
