World War II was a horrific period in time. One of the Germans that commanded part of the German coastal defenses was the “desert fox”, Field Marshal Erwin Rommel. On June 6th was his wife’s birthday so he drove back to Germany to spend the day with her.
D-Day was a horrible day in history and hopefully will never have to be repeated again. The men that gave their lives so courageously for their families and countries do not even have a marmoreal.
