Confucianism, the philosophical system founded on the teaching of Confucius dominated Chinese sociopolitical life for most of Chinese history and largely influenced the cultures of Korea, Japan, and Indochina. Serious, ongoing Confucian philosophy, however, is found mainly in Hong Kong and among Chinese scholars working in the West. Through all these years Confucian has managed to survive and at some point in times become the dominate religion. I myself found researching this topic very enlightening. Maybe one day I will take up Confucianism...or not.
