Brahms started out his life in a very respectable family. Both of his parents were of esteemed ancestry. Brahms father was a musician who played horn, violin, flute and double bass. Brahms was known by many if not all as a master, and still composers acknowledge their indebtedness to him. Brahms is everywhere, and serves as a powerful model to young composers. Poor Brahms was always measured against Beethoven, but was finally able to prove himself to the world.
