When people think of Beowulf, they think “hero”, but is that entirely true? It’s an easy argument to make about Beowulf being heroic. Describing him as non-heroic is a little more of a challenge. that he cares deeply for his people, but why would someone who cares for his people allow them to die in order to accomplish his own goals? If he has such great strength, why does he not help his people in other ways, like farming, fixing bridges, or repairing buildings? In the end, I cannot call anyone who just sits idly bye while his men are killed, a hero. The end never justifies the means.
