The mixture of foreshadowing and flashbacks is an interesting design of element that gives the book the mood of tragedy. It makes the book interesting. In the end, as the reader, we share with Sethe and Paul D the understanding of who they have become and how they need each other to complete themselves and start living their lives to the fullest.
