As a child of two baby-boomers parents, I recognize the intended target audience for
this advertisement. The visual cues, the choice of words and statements of aspirations all point
toward this audience. While targeting the baby-boomers in specific, it casts its net wider to also
include those who are parents and financially responsible.

ad was a winner when, upon showing them, both of my parents smiled widely in approval. The choice of words and pictures establish an emotional tie with its audience. As the emotional tie is attained, State Farm delivers the hook of being “there for life.”
Altogether, this is an amusing advertisement that catches the attention of its audience while at the same time informing and reassuring it of what State Farm can do for them.
