Adolf Hitler was the Fuhrer (leader) of the Nazi Germany, the instigator of World War 2 and the driving force behind the attempt to exterminate European Jewry, otherwise know as the Final Solution or the Holocaust.

World War 2 began in 1939 when Hitler invaded Poland to begin his unification of all German-speaking people. By this time extermination camps (concentration camps) had been established throughout Germany, Poland and Russia.
Before the Allied countries stopped Hitler in 1945, he had caused the extermination of 12 million people. Hitler committed suicide in his bunker on April 30 1945, and seven days later, Germany surrendered.
