After completing her description of the Analytical Engine, Ada was plagued with illness for the rest of her life. Eventually, she succumbed to cancer, and was buried beside the father she never knew. Ada’s achievements were recognized by the U.S. Department of Defense in 1979, when its high level programming language was named Ada after her.
